Bryan Cranston will head to the National Theater in London to portray Howard Beale, the fictitious anchorman in the 1976 film Network who battles television ratings, a crumbling world and a personal demons all on air.
According to The New York Times, legendary theater director Ivo van Hove is slated to direct the play, based on an adapted screenplay by Lee Hall (“Billy Elliot”). The show is scheduled to open to the public in November.
Peter Finch originally played Beale, and was recognized with the Academy Award’s first posthumous Oscar award for his portrayal of the anchorman-gone-mad. Read more…
