On the BBC flagship political programme Question Time on Thursday, the panel was asked by an audience member: “How far would Donald Trump have to go before our government formally rescinded his invitation for a state visit?”

Conservative party Minister for Prisons Sam Gyimah was a panellist, and when answering the question he praised Prime Minister Theresa May’s condemnation of Donald Trump retweeting videos from the far-right group Britain First. In doing so, Gyimah quoted the ineffable Albus Dumbledore. Read more…

Watch 11-year-old Meghan Markle protesting a sexist ad on TV

Footage has emerged of Meghan Markle campaigning against sexist adverts when she was just 11 years old.

Inside Edition obtained footage of Markle talking about a sexist ad for Ivory washing up liquid on Nick News back in 1993. In the show, Markle and her classmates were asked to watch adverts and assess their messages. 

Prior to the interview, Markle had written to the show’s host Linda Ellerbee to alert her attention about the advert, which said: “Women all over America are fighting greasy pots and pans.”  Read more…

In his show on Thursday Jimmy Kimmel addressed his Twitter exchange with Roy Moore, which started after Moore accused Kimmel of mocking “christian values” and invited him to “come down to Alabama and do it man to man”.

After plenty of jokes at Moore’s expense, Kimmel explained what “christian values” mean to him, saying “at my church forcing yourself on underage girls is a no-no. Some even consider it to be a sin.” Read more…

Selena Gomez thanking her best friend for ‘saving my life’ is the purest thing you’ll see today

In September, Selena Gomez revealed in a candid Instagram post that she had a kidney transplant due to her lupus and her best friend and fellow actress Francia Raisa donated a kidney to her.

I’m very aware some of my fans had noticed I was laying low for part of the summer and questioning why I wasn’t promoting my new music, which I was extremely proud of. So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering. It was what I needed to do for my overall health. I honestly look forward to sharing with you, soon my journey through these past several months as I have always wanted to do with you. Until then I want to publicly thank my family and incredible team of doctors for everything they have done for me prior to and post-surgery. And finally, there aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. Kate Winslet was a guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Thursday night, and leading up to the re-release of Titanic the actress revealed many interesting facts about the film. For example, it was actually James Cameron, not Leonardo DiCaprio, who drew the sketch of Rose.

Guy paints his own arrows on the road, in hopes of speeding up his commute

A Chinese commuter, fed up with a typically congested intersection on his way home, decided to hit on the brilliant idea of changing the arrow markings on the road himself.

Police released surveillance footage of the 28-year-old man, named Cai, painting over a left-turning arrow with a can of white spray paint.

He painted an arrow going straight instead, although it’s clear that there is a left pocket for turning left just a few metres ahead.

He then painted a duplicate left pocket to the side of the original one, making it seem as if the original faded paint on the pocket was an old, invalid marking. Read more…
