Zachary Quinto perfectly explains the trouble with Kevin Spacey’s coming out statement

Actor Zachary Quinto perfectly captured why Kevin Spacey‘s controversially timed decision to come out as gay was so problematic.

After a Buzzfeed News report revealed Star Trek: Discovery actor Anthony Rapp alleged that Spacey made sexual advances on him when he was just 14 years old, Spacey released a statement apologizing and announcing that he chooses to “live as a gay man.”

In response, Quinto who plays Mr. Spock in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek films and publicly came out as gay in a 2011 New York Magazine profile — shared a post on Monday pointing out that Spacey seemed to be using the moment to “deflect attention from the very serious accusation.” Read more…
