Barack Obama’s first statement since departing the White House might not please The Donald.

In a short, three paragraph missive issued by his spokesperson Kevin Lewis, Obama said he was “heartened” by the millions of Americans taking to the streets and socials media to protest some Trump’s first actions since his inauguration.

Obama is “heartened by the level of engagement taking place in communities around the country,” the statement said.

It went on to reiterate the former president’s call for citizen action in his final speech to the country, reminding that Obama spoke about “how all Americans have a responsibility to be the guardians of our democracy — not just during an election but every day.” Read more…
